Who we are
We are Ede and Moni two passionate, driven women who turned a shared dream into a reality. As friends, colleagues, and longtime members of the Greenpoint community, we saw the need for a nurturing, enriching space where young children could learn, grow, and thrive. That vision became Carrusel.
Together, we bring years of hands-on experience in early childhood education and as mothers ourselves, we understand the importance of a loving, supportive environment for young children. Ede holds a degree in teaching and is a mom, while Moni brings both her perspective as a mother and her extensive background in childcare.
As educators and caregivers, we are deeply committed to our work. We regularly attend trainings, workshops, and courses to stay current with best practices in early childhood education, so we can continue to offer the highest quality care for your little ones.
Our Mission
We believe that teaching is both a profound responsibility and a powerful privilege. Every interaction shapes how children understand themselves, relate to others, and engage with the world around them.
Our mission is to nurture confident, curious, and compassionate young learners by creating an intentional, joyful, and culturally rich learning environment.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in the child-centered approaches of Montessori and Reggio Emilia. We believe children are inherently capable, curious, and full of potential. From Montessori, we embrace practices that nurture independence, practical life skills, and conscious discipline. From Reggio Emilia, we draw inspiration from the value placed on creativity, collaboration, and learning through exploration. We thoughtfully blend elements from both philosophies, focusing on principles that support the holistic development of young children. At the same time, we enrich the learning experience with a vibrant multicultural perspective that broadens their understanding of the world and deepens their sense of community.
What makes Carrusel unique
It is the cultural and linguistic heart we bring to our program. As a Spanish immersion childcare center, we teach and communicate in Spanish throughout the day, helping children not only learn the language but also connect with the richness of Latin American culture, through art, music, dance, storytelling, food, and celebration.
We aim to create a space where children feel safe, supported, and joyful, where their natural curiosity is encouraged, and their early experiences with language, culture, and learning are positive and meaningful. At Carrusel, we lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning, helping little ones take their first steps toward becoming confident, capable, and culturally aware individuals.
